A Visionary Horror Anthology That Merges Lovecraft, Italy, and the Human Mind

LIMEN—from the Latin word meaning “threshold” or “limit”—captures the core of this groundbreaking project: the crossing point between reality and the unknown. This is not just a horror series. LIMEN is a bold reinvention of the genre, where Lovecraftian cosmic dread collides with the psychological and folkloric shadows of Italy, creating a terrifying descent into madness, myth, and the abyss that lies just beyond perception.

Each self-contained episode is inspired by a classic tale of H.P. Lovecraft, reimagined in modern-day Italy and infused with local legends, superstitions, and cultural archetypes. From the haunted canals of Venice to the cryptic catacombs of Naples, from the occult mysteries of Turin to the baroque eeriness of Palermo, every setting becomes a living character—beautiful, sinister, unforgettable.

The central theme? The fragile line between reason and madness. With every story, LIMEN explores what happens when that line breaks—and something older, darker, and incomprehensible slips through.

The Series Pilot: “The Terrible Old Man”

The journey begins with our pilot episode, "The Terrible Old Man", adapted from Lovecraft’s classic story and set in a picturesque coastal Italian village. Three fugitive thieves discover a mysterious old man who pays with ancient gold coins. But the promise of easy riches turns into a bloody nightmare as they uncover the village’s monstrous secret: a ravenous, immortal entity that feeds on the greedy and the curious alike.

A short film (30 minutes) with the ambition of a cinematic feature, the pilot sets the tone for the entire series. Funded in part by SIAE and the Italian Ministry of Culture (Per Chi Crea), it is a visual and narrative tour de force, blending stunning cinematography with psychological unease, practical and digital effects, and an original soundtrack that pulls viewers into the abyss.
